A quiet day with 18 Swifts, 12 House Martins, 3 Willow Warblers, Chiffchaff, Blackcap, 3 Reed Warblers, 3 Mistle Thrushes, Robin, 3 Yellow Wagtails, Pied Wagtail, 4 Corn Buntings, Cuckoo, Common Buzzard, Grey Heron, 8 Little Egrets, 6 Tufted Ducks, 9 Oystercatchers, 49 Curlews and 2 Whimbrels.

fairly typical summer's day.   Moving north were 66 Swifts, 29 Swallows, 4 House Martins and 2 Sand Martins.   Other birds seen included 2 Cuckoos, Turtle Dove, 2 Kestrels, Hobby, Marsh Harrier, 2 Mistle Thrushes, Pied Wagtail, 3 Yellow Wagtails (all juveniles), 4 Corn Buntings, 4 Cormorants, 4 Tufted Ducks and 6 Little Egrets

WeBS count between Stonebridge and Pye's Hall today.   Most significant were 55 Common Scoters, 27 Shelducks plus 17 young, Teal, Tufted Duck, Marsh Harrier, Kestrel, 15 Little Egrets, 10 Cormorants, Common Tern, 6 Curlews, 33 Oystercatchers, 5 Redshanks, Quail, 2 Swifts, 3 Cuckoos, 12 Swallows and 2 Corn Buntings.

 Stonebridge to Pye's Hall -   45 Common Scoters flew south over the sea.   Other relevant birds were 7 Mute Swans, 22 Mallard, 3 Teal, 36 Shelducks, 8 Oystercatchers plus 3 young, Curlew, 2 Redshanks, 10 Little Egrets, 3 Cormorants, Peregrine, Hobby, Pied Wagtail, Yellow Wagtail, 4 Swifts, 12 Swallows, 2 House Martins, 2 Quails, 2 Cuckoos, Blackcap and 4 Corn Buntings

11th June:- a fine Wood Warbler trapped and ringed at 0755, but more remarkable was the retrapping of the Icterine Warbler which had been ringed on 30th May and then released into my garden.   It had managed to return to the same patch of bushes on the dunes.   Also of note were 7 Long-tailed Tits, Sedge Warbler, 9 Little Egrets and an adult Spoonbill.   In the late morning and afternoon, a visit to Pye's Hall and around the realignment area added 40 Shelducks, 2 Shovelers, 15 more Little Egrets, 4 Cuckoos, 2 Common Buzzards, 25 Swifts and a Quail.

12th:- at the south end were 9 Little Egrets, 500 Starlings, 2 Hobbies, Common Buzzard, 3 Kestrels, Turtle Dove, 5 Cuckoos, 10 Corn Buntings, 48 Stock Doves, Lapwing and a Mistle Thrush.

 It was hard to find much this morning.   An adult Spoonbill was present with 14 Little Egrets by the flashes, otherwise Common Buzzard, Grey Heron, 7 Corn Buntings, 5 Yellow Wagtails, 3 Cuckoos, 75 Swifts, 16 Swallows, 4 Reed Warblers, Willow Warbler, Blackcap,  Mistle Thrush and Turtle Dove.

Two Little Terns passed north at sea and 2 Sandwich Terns south, but these were merely transient birds.   When I returned to the dunes, the birds of the day were 2 Spoonbills that headed south.   Other birds of note were 13 Little Egrets, 3 Grey Herons, 2 Kestrels, Common Buzzard, 11 Shelducks, 10 Mallard, 6 Tufted Ducks, 17 Oystercatchers, 7 Redshanks, 2 Cormorants, 3 Cuckoos, 40 Stock Doves, 650 Starlings, 7 Corn Buntings, 3 Yellow Wagtails, Swift and 3 House Martins.

 Today was pretty quiet.   Most notable were 9 Little Egrets, 2 Grey Herons, 6 Tufted Ducks, 4 Shelducks, 4 Lesser Black-backs, Cormorant, Barn Owl, 5 Cuckoos, Common Buzzard, 5 Corn Buntings, Yellow Wagtail, Mistle Thrush, 12 Swallows, 3 Lesser Whitethroats, Reed Warbler and Willow Warbler.

A Tawny Pipit was reported via Birdguides.

  I can't believe that its the weekend again.   Lovely weather, and consequently little change.   Moving north were 24 Greylags, 4 Lesser Black-backs and 4 Black-headed Gulls while to the south were 15 Swallows and 2 Common Terns.   A juvenile Robin was new and other birds included a Mistle Thrush, 2 Willow Warblers, 4 Reed Warblers, 4 Lesser Whitethroats, 2 Blackcaps, 7 Long-tailed Tits, Swift, Kestrel, 3 Yellow Wagtails, 5 Corn Buntings, Cuckoo, 40 Stock Doves, Grey Heron, 3 Little Egrets, 6 Tufted Ducks and 7 Shelducks.

The cut lucerne field attracted 40 Stock Doves and a Golden Plover.   Other birds of note included 2 Yellow Wagtails, 4 Corn Buntings, 3 Cuckoos, Turtle Dove, 3 Willow Warblers, 2 Blackcaps, Lesser Whitethroat, Sedge Warbler, 171 Swifts, 16 Swallows, 2 House Martins, 2 Little Egrets, Grey Heron, 9 Tufted Ducks, 9 Shelducks, 6 Canada Geese, 2 Kestrels, Barn Owl, 4 Lesser Black-backs, 3 Cormorants and 2 Gannets

 The best bird by far was a singing Golden Oriole at 0955.   I could not see it.   It was in the bushes at the northern limit of the sheep enclosures.   It sang only four times and that was it.   Other birds include 17 Long-tailed Tits, 3 Lesser Whitethroats, 2 Willow Warblers, 3 Reed Warblers, 5 Yellow Wagtails, 8 Corn Buntings, 2 Cuckoos, 2 Kestrels, 13 Swifts, 2 House Martins, 8 Tufted Ducks and 3 Little Egrets.

   Things seem to be quietening down now.    Moving south were 27 Swallows, 2 House Martins and 33 Swifts.    Other birds included 2 Willow Warblers, 2 Reed Warblers, 2 Blackcaps, 5 Corn Buntings, 2 Yellow Wagtails, Cuckoo, Common Buzzard, 7 Little Egrets, 2 Canada Geese, 7 Tufted Ducks, 8 Sanderlings, 4 Oystercatchers and 2 Cormorants.

One lucerne field was cut on Saturday which means that the current nesting of two pairs of Corn Buntings has been thwarted.

 50 Swifts, 22 Swallows, 3 House Martins, Lesser Whitethroat, 4 Reed Warblers, Sedge Warbler, Blackcap, Garden Warbler, 2 Willow Warblers, Chiffchaff, 4 Cuckoos, 2 Spotted Flycatchers, 3 Yellow Wagtails, 5 Corn Buntings, Collared Dove, 3 Little Egrets and 11 Long-tailed Tits.
